A letter from the Publisher

Dear Subscriber:

With a deep sense of gratitude and no small measure of sadness, I write to share that The Priest magazine will be ceasing publication with this December 2025 issue. This decision is part of a broader strategic shift at OSV, as we respond to changing readership patterns among priests and the rapidly evolving media landscape.

Few publications last a century, but The Priest did so. Founded in 1924 by Father (soon to be bishop) John Francis Noll as The Acolyte, The Priest changed in content over time, but its mission — to serve those who serve the people of God — never wavered. Today, that mission is being refocused into OSV News, our book publishing, curriculum resources, parish materials and the English edition of L’Osservatore Romano.

I want to thank you, our readers, for your faithful support. Your commitment to the mission of OSV has allowed this publication to prepare your fellow priests to touch countless lives for more than a century, and its influence will continue to ripple far into the future.

I am grateful, too, for our wonderful colleagues in Catholic media at Liguori Publications. Starting next month, you will receive issues of Liguorian magazine to fulfill your subscription to The Priest. While Liguorian is a bimonthly magazine, Liguori Publications has graciously committed to fulfilling your subscription issue to issue — which means that the remaining length of your subscription will automatically double, all at no cost to you.

As we move into this new era, please know that OSV remains dedicated to serving you and your parish with creativity, fidelity and zeal. We hope you will continue to walk with us as we embrace new and innovative ways of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Christ,

Scott P. Richert
